Logo…

I guess it sounds silly to think of a cottage having a logo. So modern… High tech… Not at all like an old-fashioned cottage…

But, because I don’t see well, I do not write well manually. When someone wants our phone number, writing it down on a piece of paper requires proper lighting, a large enough piece of paper, and luck! Let me be clear. I do write manually to sign checks. And, I hope to write manual notes when we move and I have a proper desk, lighting, and each of your snail mail addresses. But, writing manually is definitely not one of my easier skills.

So now that we have cleared that up, let me explain about our logo. When we decided to design a calling card we thought about every aspect of our cottage. Should the calling card be plain or with a design? Then, should the design be whimsical, cute, touching, or calming. We searched business card web sites (No one calls them “calling cards” any more). Finally, at VistaPrint we found a plethora of choices. Here could be our answer!

Should we pick a calming scene? Those were in abundance… from quiet lakes to zen mountain tops… Clouds to peace signs…

Whimsical had some darling choices too. A child swinging up to the sky… And, angels…

There were several cute designs with different animals.

And even, touching cards with people reaching out to people.

Was it possible? Was there any way to incorporate calm, whimsical, cute and touching? We believe our little teapot is whimsical, cute, touching and calming. After all my mom thought there was nothing more calming than a lovely cup of tea in the afternoon. And, how many lives she touched as she shared so many neighbors sorrows and pains over a cup of tea. Also, what is cuter or more whimsical than a little teapot? So, in the end we believe we chose a logo that embraces our desire for cute whimsy while remembering the need to be gentle with each other… the totality of our vision and our belief about the lovely little village we are joining.
