We have discussed the purchase of our refrigerator, dishwasher, and wall ovens, but we have not discussed our cooktop other than I mentioned I thought we were going to purchase a six burner Thermador.
Well, guess what? I was wrong! We went one more time to the store to check out our different options. Each one has its pros and cons. But when I saw the GE Cafe Series 36” Gas Rangetop it as love at First! Second! and Third sight!
Picture it! Legally blind lady wanting to cook on a gas cooktop. Nothing but an accident waiting to happen, right? I am as aware of that as I am sure you are… so my first thoughts are always safety. Though I loved so many aspects of other cooktops, non had the safety offered to me by the GE Cafe Series 36” Gas Rangetop and here is why
First… It has heavy “Edge-to-Edge” grates made of cast iron that allows easy movement of pans between burners without danger of tipping over because I cannot line the pan up correctly. No other cooktop offered that extra wonderful safety feature.
Second… it has sealed cooktop burners… Blind lady spills? Easy peasy to clean up! For those of you who may not know, just let your cooktop cool completely then make a baking soda and water paste. Wipe it over the area, rinse, and voila! Clean!
Third… Scott and I love soups… well, love may not be a strong enough word… obsessed with soups may be more accurate. And, we make our own soups
(1) because it is easy,
(2) because we need to cook without salt and have you ever tried to buy a soup without salt added?
(3) we prefer soups without animal products, and
(4) we love to make large batches ahead of time and freeze them for chilly days or days we may be under the weather.
Well, our GE Cooktop comes with six burners with each having a full spectrum of heating settings, from an ultra-low 140 F simmer to an intense 18,000 BTU flame… put the soup on and let it simmer all day! Yummy! We did not find another cooktop that offered all six burners having this full spectrum of heat settings.
Fourth… each burner is reversible… Flat on one side and uniquely contoured on the other to accommodate round-bottom woks. When we aren’t cooking soups we love to stir fry but again because of my vision it is very easy for a wok to slide too far to the right or left. With this cooktop? Problem solved!
So those are some of the reasons I love the GE Cafe Series 36” Gas Rangetop!
Once installed and used you will be updated on the finer points of this cooktop. No, I do not work for GE, but I know I will be safer in my kitchen thanks to them and their thoughtful technology…
