Since Happy’s surgery, life has been somewhat chaotic. Not in a manic sort of way, but just our schedules, be what they may, have been thrown out of schedule. Plus, Scott and I have been battling nasty Mainland Spring colds which slowed us down on our projects.
But, we digress… looking to the present, today’s gift, as Happy goes for his second post surgery checkup. He is wanting to bound around the room and complaining mightily about being confined to his kennel (to prevent bounding). Just another week and he will be free to be his playful self.
We have been working hard to get all the construction materials out of my new sewing room and our laundry room as it is time to set them up for their “official” purposes. But, again, though setting them up, it will be partially temporary as there is still AC to be installed, then, the Aluminum Heat Transfer Plates, to conduct our Radiant Heating properly next winter must be put in place, the reflective insulation over that, then the ceilings reinstalled. And, in the laundry room, we need to put in the puppies bathing shower. But still, progress, however slight, is progress.
The sewing machine needed for all our home projects has been a process too. We stopped by the Gloversville Sewing Center just to see what was available locally. The moment I walked in the door, I thought I had died and gone to sewer’s heaven! They had (have) everything any person who loves to sew could ever need. People (Suzette and Sandy the day we were there) who were delightful and extremely knowledgeable about every aspect of sewing. Plus, they had Bernina sewing machines everywhere.
Wanting to be frugal I was going to settle for a standard sewing machine, but as we looked at all the heavy duty sewing ahead of us and saw the powerful Bernina sewing machines, we decided to bite the bullet and purchase the Lamborghini of sewing machines, the Bernina!
Now to decide on which series. The 300 and 500 series are geared more toward beginners. Though I have not sewed in years, I am not anywhere near a beginner. So we studied the 700 series. I need power as I will be dealing with both light and heavy materials. Sewing clothes, quilting, and home decorating are some of my sewing passions. The Bernina 770 meets all of my immediate and future needs. So today after Happy’s second check-up we will pick up our new 770 Bernina.
I know many of you are wondering about our car, Baby Girl. Well, she has been at the dealer’s since Monday but her invoice papers were not sent with her. So she remains in their custody until all her paperwork can be completed…
