So here we are sitting in our somewhat warm room… hunkered down… waiting for running water and a working toilet… with no car for the foreseeable future… not the auspicious beginning we had envisioned…
At this moment the bright spot in our day is knowing our friends from Pennsylvania will be arriving later today. They are bringing us some much needed furniture, tools for Scott, but mostly themselves! We have not seen Anita and Chris in over five years and that was just a brief visit.
The day progresses… still no running water or working toilet… discomfort grows… Finally! The water is working! Toilets will be functional shortly…
Before nightfall we have Water! Working Toilet!! Warmth!!! And, Friends!!!!
The men help us carry a love seat, king-sized boxspring, and king-sized mattress to our attic bedroom. After we make our bed with blankets, quilts and comforters, we relax on our adorable love seat. It is beginning to feel like a home… under construction, but a home!
Now the real work begins! We start wandering around the house to gain a sense of where each room is. This cottage is so big I keep getting lost. Scott has a better sense of the layout. He is patient with my confusion.
The attic… our sanctuary is easy to configure. The red room will be my writing, music, and meditation room. There are separate areas for each endeavor.
Of course the big room is for our bedroom… and the unfinished room… our future bathroom… We lay temporary masking tape to designate where the shower, vanities, and toilet will be placed…
One floor has definite plans… kind of… we still need to decide on the master bedroom’s layout…
What will we do for storage? (Victorian castles, manors, houses and cottages are woefully lacking in closets and storage space.) But, there is a splendid cedar closet just off our proposed bathroom that we can use to hang our clothes…
