Sigh… snail’s pace is the most appropriate way to describe the pace things are being accomplished in our cottage. So today I will share with you bits and pieces of our piecemeal attempts to get settled in our home.
Until our plumber/heating/air conditioning man finishes his portion of the work, everyone else is held up and so are we. Even Scott can just do so much until the plumbing, heating and air conditioning are completed… with ceilings down, tools, supplies, and debris from their work pretty much everywhere it is impossible to arrange a single room… Just as we were twiddling our thumbs in Hawaii once we had everything shipped, we are moving and organizing what we can while we wait for our car to arrive and our plumber/heating/air conditioning man to complete his portion of the needed work. We are beginning to suspect this job is too big for him… hummm… what to do now…
We do have more planters to put together, but need real tools to put one of them together and the others are so light that until they are filled with composted soil, they could blow away. Again, foiled by the lack of a car.
Because our bathroom on the main floor is near the basement door we decided to not put a bathroom in the basement. Instead, we will have a half bath on the first floor with full baths on the second and third floors.
The window in our future bathroom in the attic has about a half inch gap between the lower and upper windows so we are having someone come to give us estimates on just windows for the attic today. Thanks to our lovely neighbors we know of a window company whose work we should be pleased with. They went through three different sets of windows before finding a company whose windows actually protected their home thermally.
We do have not one, but two wagons… one royal blue and one powder blue for the yard. Here is Scott putting one of them together…
And, we do have a new welcome mat by our old front door… and though we wold love to greet everyone, we really hope guests do not appear for a while…
We want to reiterate that every neighbor we have met in Gloversville has been welcoming and friendly. How could anyone not want to live in this beautiful little village tucked in the foot of the Adirondacks, regardless of any challenge…
