We know all of you want to see headway in the house… we do too! So far what has been done is heating that needs to be insulated, wiring so we have some lights… the removal of the old kitchen… and selection of what materials will be used in the kitchen…
Today we did have a huge surprise. We left to go pick out the countertop for the bakery and by the time we returned Joe and Randy had framed in our downstairs bathroom. I was so thrilled… our first real visible progress.
And, while we were at Granite and Marble Works we did make a final decision on the countertops for the bakery and gave them a deposit.
As we were walking down the third aisle we saw a lovely lightly tinged pink stone with threads of gray and black running through it. Those of you who know me know I am a sucker for just about anything light pink. Maybe because it is considered a calming color.
Anyway, we selected Bianco Parana Quartzite. Quartzite is formed from sandstone and quartz. Apparently nature places large amounts of pressure on empty grains of sandstone stuffing them with quartz and voila… a beautiful stone…. And, our particular choice for our bakery…
So though there is not much to see physically, we are making headway with our electricity and demolition… we promise you that as soon as we have any physical progress to report we will be screaming it from the rooftops!
As a bonus today, Elizabeth has shared two pictures of her lovely irises… thank you so much!
