Apparently this part of the country has been receiving a phenomenal amount of rain this year. For us? It is delightful… The weather remains cool, cloudy, and rainy… Perfect for helping our newly planted trees and bushes establish solid root systems; plus, our veggies are absolutely thriving! Maybe no kitchen, but as Scott and I keep reminding ourselves, we know we have established beds ready for next year’s crops…
Scott has installed heat deflector plates in the ceilings of the sewing room, closet, pink bedroom, laundry room, and bakery for the floors above. He finished the rounded sections of tubing with good old fashioned heavy duty aluminum foil. Now on to the reflective insulation, then the standard insulation for an additional sound and temperature barrier.
We have received just a bit of news that might cause some shifting of our priorities… we learned that part of the basement wall crumbled enough it caused the house to shift. We knew the garage and patio foundations needed to be looked at, but the basis for the structure of the house? Well, that is what we are faced with… so foundation experts will be here Friday to give us their assessment of the damage and prospective costs… Will update you when we know more…
Now… to our latest adjustment to the old layout of the house… We decided that Scott and I are moving to the second floor and making the third floor our guest’s private oasis… We will take
over the pink bedroom… But, to adjust it so it is comfortable for
us??? We are taking out a wall that had been installed to allow for a small closet, sink, and some drawers. It will increase the width of the room by almost three feet so that way, as we lie in bed, we will be able to enjoy a complete view of the fireplace.
You do need to know as the rains and these heavy jobs continue, my skills are definitely not of any use to anyone at the moment. So, to not waste my time, besides writing our blog, I have been working on my novel… many pages and several revisions to go, but daily progress…
Plus, we have this magnificent rhododendron outside our back doors…
