Early Birds…

Boy, our roofers are hard working early birds! Arriving at our cottage a few minutes after 7am and jumping into tearing and peeling old roofing off instantly. Part of our roof just needed all the layers of shingles removed. But the back yard side of our roof was in such terrible shape they had to pull the roof up and replace the whole roof and all the shingles. So for a short time we had a sky light.

Though it is scary to think how fragile our roof was, it is wonderful to know we are closer to being prepared for the onslaught of inclement weather. Today they are starting on the street side of the house.

And, my precious Scott continues to insulate each room. As he prepares each room for sealed ceilings he has had to go around every edge of the ceilings and smooth them. When the ceilings were pulled down to install the heating, they were pulled very haphazardly… leaving jagged edges and lath protruding all around the rooms. But, my wonderful worker-bee husband has smoothed all the edges in my sewing room and the laundry room. Two rooms down, three rooms and a hallway to go on the second floor.

And, all the left over debris in the garage is disappearing too. We found tons of baby clothes and toys in next to new condition that we have found a home for. And Joe will be removing the boxes of torn out lath, plaster and drywall they had stored in the garage and behind it.

Slowly our cottage is resembling someone actually living here…
