Continuing advances…

Oh my, now that Patrick is gone and other people are looking at his work, we are so grateful he is no longer part of our renovation. Apparently there is something wrong with just about everything he did…

The way he installed our boiler? We could have a potential fire hazard.

The hoses carrying the heat to our floors? They are not individually regulated so one isn’t too hot and one too cold. If the coils become too hot they could cause our floors to buckle. Too cold? Obvious… Yikes!

The air conditioning? Thank goodness he just completed(?) the third floor! I hate to even go there… between ducts dripping condensation and condensate drain pipe not connected properly… where do we begin to correct those errors or do we just start over?

As we are learning, the people in this area of the country that do excellent work are in high demand! If someone you call doesn’t have a waiting list, they are probably not worth hiring. Now we always realize there are exceptions to every rule, but in general… again only referring to upper New York State… plan on going onto a waiting list.

Precision Sheetmetal… Glenn Valachovic, our new “highly recommended” plumber called Precision Sheetmetal to see if they could help us out of our predicament. They came over and looked briefly at our list of existing and potential disasters… Shook their heads in dismay… and, went to think about if they wanted to tackle our mess. Fortunately for us… and Bless their hearts…, they are returning! They will assess in meticulous detail where to begin cleaning up all the potential catastrophes awaiting us from what was done improperly… and, to complete all the unfinished heating and air conditioning. For the air-conditioning in the kitchens they are looking at putting the ducts in the toe hole kick plates of our cabinets.

Glenn, our plumber, is so booked he cannot begin to start our project for at least two weeks. He will be coordinating with Larry McGillis from LM Masons, who will be repairing our basement, for the placing of all the piping for water and gas lines.

Joe and Randy, our sheetrock, floor laying, and general all-around good-guy worker-bees are so busy… well, we will see them when they have a few hours to spare. Hopefully, installing the vanity on the second floor as there is no working cold water in that sink. We are basically down to a tub and toilet.

BUT! We do have people working us into their very busy schedules! And, in this area of the country that is an honest-to-goodness blessing…

So though we have much scheduled, it is again, wait… wait as the days grow shorter… wait as winter grows closer… wait for our name to move to the top of everyone’s very busy list…
