Scott is such a trooper! I find something at an estate sale and he is ready to transport us via Baby Girl with the safest of speeds to that sale.
Well, several weeks ago we had a fantastic surprise. The estate sale was one block away! Should we walk over? What if we found too many items to convey in our arms. After much debating back and forth we decided Baby Girl should jaunt with us around the corner… just in case ?
Scott located some much needed tools. (Really grateful we had Baby Girl as they were quite heavy)
I found two adorable hat boxes. For those who have know me for years, you know I love hats. Though for the last several years in Hawaii the heat made it impossible for me to wear hats. Here in cool/cold upper New York State I might recreate my love of hats. Regardless, I adore the whimsy of hat boxes…
Then, tucked in a small room off to the side, I saw a darling upright piano that was for sale at the ridiculously rock-bottom price of $100. I thought… it must be in terrible shape… but, when I walked over to it, it was in lovely condition. One key doesn’t work and one needs the damper adjusted, but it was basically in tune. The casing was in excellent shape.
“Scott! Look what I found!”
He moaned. “How will we ever transport it home?”
“We could put it on a dolly and pull it home,” was my first suggestion.
When that idea didn’t go over with him, I thought…
“Joe and Randy are lugging left over construction debris from the house. What if… they picked it up for us and brought it home?”
“I guess” was Scott’s less than enthusiastic response.
One quick phone call to our ever reliable Joe and Randy and we had a piano on the way to our very unfinished cottage.
Here it sits in the middle of a dining rom very much under construction. But, HERE it sits! We have a lovely Mehlin piano waiting patiently, as we are, for a habitable first floor.
P.S. Our friend, Debbie, assured me that she knows a piano tuner that can fix those minor key problems…
