Close, oh, so close! Today! Yes, TODAY! They are finishing the roof on our lovely Victorian cottage.
Through the end of last week we had the bang, crash, and rat-a-tat-tat of the nail guns attaching shingles… all day long. No more snow slides. We now use snow and water guard shingles all along six feet from the edges of the roof. The finishing touches are going on our dormers today.
Next? The garage! Today while some of Jeremiah’s crew finish the cottage others are ripping those old shingles off the garage. Our “Baby Girl” is allocated to the street while the garage roof is grateful to have new covering. We are close folks! Really close to having functional roofs. Yay!!!
Our other good news? Yes, it just keeps rolling in! Mr. McGillis from LM Masons will have time to fix our basement after all. The bad news? All the trees we planted in the side yard need to be moved so the equipment needed to retrench and repair the basement can be brought in. We decided that our two surviving cherry trees will join the peach and plum trees in the back yard. Our multiple fruit fruit orchard! Where we will move our precious hawthorn? Hmmmm… that is still up in the air.
Now to find a plumber who can finish what needs to be completed properly in the basement. In this area there is a tremendous shortage of plumbers and the good ones are in high demand. Our job is so huge we will tie any small company up for weeks. That has its blessing but also limits their ability to help their other customers…
But, overall? Things are moving. We are so grateful…
