We have been venturing far and wide… we now know our way to Saratoga Springs and Albany almost without Google Girl.
As you know, we have been following estate sales rather closely. Well, we saw one sale that had a perfect Santa punch bowl and cups for the holidays. Plus, a very unique vase that looked like crocheted daisies. I knew it would look perfect in our “someday finished” tea room.
We were set to leave early Friday morning so we would be at the head of the line. Only Thursday morning at eight we realized that the sale started right now! We jumped in Baby Girl, stopped by McDonald’s for a large black coffee to sustain Scott, and headed toward Albany and the already “in progress” estate sale.
By the time we arrived (about 11) there were few people scouring through the sale remains. The Santa punch bowl and unique vase had been two of the first items to be sold. We saw an exquisite Havilland serving dish I was ready to settle on when we realized it had a major chip in the lid.
At this point I was ready to tell Scott, “Let’s go.”
But, my precious thoughtful husband suggested we go through the house… just in case there was some other treasure hidden that had not been posted.
Lo and behold… there were two of the cutest Christmas snowmen cookie jars tucked in back… on a counter… with no price tags. Kitchen bakery… cookie jars… sigh… were they even for sale?
Carefully, we picked them up. Scott carrying one… gingerly, I was carrying the other. Not sure if we were carrying family heirlooms or merchandise for sale. When we learned they were for sale we held our breath… how much? A mere $5! Breathing a sigh of relief, we joyously handed over the money and skedaddled out to Baby Girl. Wrapped those adorable little cookie jars in newspaper and tucked them into our estate sale traveling box.
So though we missed out on the Santa punch bowl and the unique vase we did discover (thanks to my determined husband) two adorable cookie jars…
Update on garage: three-fourths completed! If the rain holds off today we should have a new garage roof…
