Last week was a busy week in the renovation of a certain cottage on Kingsboro Avenue. The Climate Chief spent almost two weeks insulating our attic… what with the preparation for the insulation, then the filling of all the attic’s nooks and crannies. But… we now have a fully insulated attic that is keeping us cool and comfortable. Of course now that we are fully insulated? This morning our village is a cool 58 degrees… ?
We have completed plans for the cabinets in both kitchens… now on to the waiting list. Our cabinets will be constructed by John Herrlett and his brother Lothar of Herrl Woodcraft. All the cabinets will be constructed of a soft maple. We have decided the backsplash in the primary kitchen, which has the black counters and copper ceiling, will be a turquoise ceramic tile. We have not found the exact tile yet, but decided on turquoise for our color. The backsplash for the bakery is still being decided. Since our bakery is more whimsical we want to find a whimsical ceramic tile. Not the easiest tile to find.
Also, we went over to the home of our basement mason, Larry McGillis. His lovely wife, Donna, finishes old furniture. She had a turtle shaped table that will be perfect for our foyer. Then, we saw a beautiful walnut dining room table with six chairs that needs a little refinishing. Both the turtle shaped table and the dining room table were for sale for very reasonable prices. Larry and Donna are continuing to hold them at their house until we have installed our tin ceilings and have a completed basement.
Actual work on our plumbing or ceilings will not begin for another ten days, but Steve Maxon from Modern Electric will be continuing with our electrical work this week. So though work is still moving at a slow pace… projects are scheduled. And, we have a very cool and warm attic…
