Yesterday we had another road trip to Granite & Marble Works in Wilton, New York. The only sad aspect to completing our counters is we will have no more reasons to make them a destination spot. (It is such a fun store! Row upon row of slabs of marble, granite, other great stones, and an absolutely delightful staff… sigh)
Well, yesterday, we thought we would give Happy (our older, almost thirteen, puppy) a break from Emmy (our younger very full of energy puppy). So we took Emmy with us. She was thrilled… though not too convinced her riding location should be in the back seat.
After having made so many trips to see our beautiful counters over the last several months, it feels like a hop, skip and a jump away. It was great to see Christine as we first walked in the door. She was the first person we met at Granite & Marble Works that first auspicious visit. Then, her face dropped ever so slightly… “I am so sorry but, we do not let dogs or children under eighteen go in back where the marble slabs are. They could get hurt.”
I had presumed Emmy could not walk around in the slab room, but did not think about not being allowed to carry her.
“Not even just to see our two slabs?” I asked hopefully.
Our two slabs are located in the first three rows of their multiple rows of slabs. Again graciousness abounded! Reminding me to hold her snuggly… we were allowed to see the slabs we had picked for our countertops. First we saw Bianco Parana Quartzite…
always cheerful and whimsical. Then, she took us to our Black Fantasy Leathered Granite. Words… pictures… nothing can convey the beauty of this stone. It literally takes our breath away when seeing it in person. Once we complete our home, each of you will need to visit, just to see our countertops… especially our Black Fantasy Leathered Granite.
Well, they studied the measurements from the drawings John Herrlett of Herrl Woodcraft had given us. Jeff figured how many square feet we needed for our countertops… and we paid them. Countertops are officially ours… when we have our cabinets…
