Miracle! Almost…

We were thrown out of the house yesterday… well, not thrown out, but for the day we had no access to water or toilet facilities. Being prudent we decided we would take this opportunity to take care of a few out of the house tasks. So off we went.

First, we needed to change Scott’s driver’s license from Hawaii to New York. New York has very strict rules about what documents qualify as identification. One document is mandatory… a Social Security card. We are told to not carry our Social Security card for fear of someone stealing it. But, as senior citizens we do have our Medicare cards which have our “Social Security” number on them. Is that adequate? No! So off to the Social Security office to apply for new cards.

Second we stopped by Adirondack Wood Flooring to order the fir we need for our second floor master bedroom. Had a fun visit with Jo. Learned we may not have to wait until November for it to be installed. Headed out.

Since we had a day to ourselves, we decided to have small adventure to the Mohawk Visitor Center on the New York Turnpike. There we could see one of the locks closer. Lo and behold! While there Jo from Adirondack Wood Flooring called.

“Would you like your flooring installed tomorrow?”

“Tomorrow? Really?”

We both laughed.

“Yes! Thank you so much.”

We continued our exploration of the locks.

Had lunch and headed home.

Still no working facilities, but shouldn’t be much longer. We changed out of our “outside fur” (as the puppies refer to the clothes we wear out) hunkered down and waited.

Then, I remembered! I have a doctor’s appointment first thing this morning. We will not be home. They can’t install the flooring. It is late. Can I catch Jo? We leave a message when no one answers the phone. Then, I send an email… hoping we do not inconvenience these wonderful people. A while later I received confirmation they received the email. They cancelled the installation.

Now we are praying that another opening appears for installing our small job before November…
