We hope all of you had a wonderful Labor Day weekend before you move into your busy Fall schedule. We had a wonderful surprise on Sunday. When Scott went to pick up a bite of food for us he found this LM Mason sign in our front yard!
And, last night… a cement mixer appeared!
Yes, this means another quality job is soon being started on our basement! We are so grateful!
So Scott spent part (a significant part) of Labor Day laboring to move two cherry trees and a hawthorn to make room for basement excavating equipment. We decided since the hawthorn had to be moved we would add it to our front yard of color. It now sits where we will be able to see it from our future second floor bedroom. While he was at it he planted three more Sweetheart blueberry bushes in our growing blueberry orchard and a Macintosh apple tree among our struggling hazelnuts. We also purchased a Cleveland flowering pear tree that naturally grows in a tight, symmetrical shape, a semi-perfect oval that is sitting on the opposite side of our front walkway from the hawthorn.
Though our garden was not terribly successful this year, we do have sturdy rosemary, basil, tarragon and sage plants ready to move indoors just before the first frost to provide us with lovely fresh herbs through the winter. Our two bay laurels, turmeric and ginger are all growing nicely too.
Today, Emmy is having dental surgery to clean his/her teeth. Apparently I am not a good dog tooth brusher and he/she has plaque which needs to be removed. Sigh…
My brother, David, had a birthday last Thursday. When we were talking, as we do on birthdays, he asked if we had any regrets about moving to Gloversville. (I believe he was concerned about all the delays in having a real home to live in.) With no hesitancy at all, I assured him that we love being here. Scott echoed that refrain.
We realized we have hit a plethora of bumps along the road of our transition from Hawaii. Do we wish they hadn’t happened? Wishing is a waste of our energy. We choose to face what is and work to find the best solutions. For us that means being willing to wait until competent people are available to help us. Therefore, we are doing our utmost to wait out our challenges with grace. And, we do see light at the end of the tunnel…
