We received notice that our car needed to be inspected before our car insurance would be renewed. So we scheduled our maintenance check-up and inspection renewal with our car dealer.
Easy-peasy… all done…
Right?
Wrong!
They didn’t want our car to be inspected to maintain our insurance; they wanted a photo inspection for our car insurance to continue. We had never heard of such a thing. It turns out only five states require this photo inspection… New York, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Rhode Island, and Florida.
They require a photo inspection before issuing you a policy to protect the insurance company and us. This photo inspection creates a record of the physical condition of our “Baby Girl”. In addition to the photos, the inspector records our vehicle identification number (VIN), odometer reading, the condition of our vehicle, all our options, and accessories.
It was the 26th of April (George’s Birthday). We found ourselves scrambling to find out how to get this photo inspection completed. It needed to be turned into the insurance company by the 29th. That challenge turned out to be not nearly as difficult as we thought it would be. Right next-door at Brown’s Ford of Johnstown was an approved car photo inspector.
We called. They said come right on in. We did.
We were greeted with, “Are you here for the photo inspection?” By a lovely young lady named Brittany. Turns out the photo inspection lady had not returned from lunch yet, so while we waited, we had a lovely visit with Brittany.
Shortly, Daisy arrived. She was the person who could take our photo inspection. Daisy was absolutely charming. After going through the list of questions about the accessories and options on the car, we returned to our car. Daisy took the pictures of “Baby Girl”; Scott signed the paperwork; and we were done.
Easy-peasy after all.
And, this required photo inspection is not a bad idea. Should cut down on a lot of insurance fraud.
