Colds… Plural…

It has been awhile since we posted. That cold I caught at the emergency veterinary clinic? Well, Scott felt left out and caught it too. For almost a full week, we were coughing, hacking, and sneezing our way through dozens of hankies. But now, we have bounced back to normal.

At the same time Happy re-injured her/his leg. For several days she/he did not want to move. We were concerned, not only about her/his leg, but the toll it was taking because of her/his age. We are thrilled to report that our precious Happy has returned to believing she/he is a two year old puppy with full enthusiasm for life.

Slightly blurry because Happy is scurrying..

The Indian Summer that Steve, our wonderful electrician from Modern Electric, had envisioned appearing this Fall has finally ended. September showed beautiful signs of chilly weather approaching when Indian Summer barged in and declared, “Not so fast!”

Our air conditioners, that we thought were shut off for the next few months, were turned on. But, wait! One air conditioner was not hooked up and the other was not blowing cool air. October in the NorthEast and we were sweltering.

Bert, our heating and cooling expert, popped over and added a part needed for the downstairs air conditioner to run off the same thermostat as the heater without blowing out the furnace. The upstairs air conditioner had the compressor shut off.. (Fussy machines… demanding power and their own circuits! ?)But, we had AC for the whole two days of Indian Summer that remained.

October half gone and we have returned to Fall weather. Though only the bakery and master bedroom on the second floor are properly insulated and sealed, we are comfortable… so far.

Our days are in the 40s and 50s. Our nights are dipping into the thirties. If all goes as predicted we will receive our first frost this Wednesday night. Snow can not be far behind…
