Scott is so precious… well, I have always known he was precious. But, what I mean in this instance, is… when he saw I had posted he was pulling down the knotty pine from the old kitchen, he said, “I better get down there and pull it out! It’s in the blog!”
My adorable sweetie! How wonderful is he? And, here are pictures to show he is pulling down those old walls… And those walls are a bear to tear down… Apparently the walls were put in before the subfloor, so to pull them out clean is impossible. What a shame! That old knotty pine is absolutely lovely. We plan to use all we can salvage in another area of the house. It is a shame we have to lose an inch of it…
When we arrived we had planned to hit the ground running… we hit the ground running all right… and slammed into a wall head on. To say the lack of a car has not been an inconvenience is ridiculous! It has been our biggest inconvenience. Yes, we could walk to some locations, but we had planned on driving to them until we really learned our way. To wander about the city without being sure where we are going or how to get home was not on our “planned agenda” either. But most of you know Scott and me… we just picked ourselves up, brushed ourselves off, and came up with a new game plan.
Already a zillion boxes arrived and Scott just found my beet juice… I feel so much better with my “beet juice a day”… Our household goods are scheduled to arrive any day now… We are already out of places to store things because of all the ongoing construction… so those additional boxes will be spread between the living and dining rooms and center foyer.
All our early plans for starting our seeds and bulbs are on hold
until we can buy the compost to fill the planters. At least Scott has most of the planters put together. And, he has cleared a lot of the scrub bushes and trees along the fence.
So as you can see, we are progressing, just at a much slower rate than we had planned…
