Transition…

Thirteen years ago, for a lovely Victorian cottage in Gloversville, life would never be quite the same. The last member of the family that had filled this home with love and joy and caring for years walked out the door… closing a life long chapter after losing her father just months before… The cottage was put up for sale. Another person bought the cottage… but a few years later they abandoned it.

We continued our daily lives. Josh being appointed to sit on the Hawaii State Council on Developmental Disabilities, having dinners with friends, daily outings… During the last eight years, while Josh embraced every moment left in his life, that potentially beautiful cottage languished… neglected by all.

People would pass by, shake their heads, and say, “What a shame… It was such a lovely house (they did not realize it was not just a lovely house, but a lovely Victorian cottage).”

No one saw the bigger picture but… a knowing young man and an abandoned cottage. They knew… they had a knowledge…

“Mom, I really would love to live in an old Victorian.” Josh would pop out every now and then. And, the Victorian cottage sat empty… waiting patiently…

No one used electricity to light the home; nor gas to warm its walls, but it stood there patiently, knowing…

Bullet hole

Someone walked by, not caring… and shot at it with either a BB or real gun… but the cottage stood faithful… strong… and, waited…

Finally the utility company shut off all power to the cottage. It looked as if this cottage was destined to become another beautiful home in Gloversville left to stand and wait patiently… wait patiently for someone come to restore it to its original beauty…

But, we believe that Josh (aka Min Chul) with his deep still wisdom knew the cottage was there and sent a prayer that we would find it, realize he wanted us to move to Gloversville, be happy, and know his spirit would continue to walk with us in this lovely Victorian cottage. We believe that our young man and the lonely cottage joined forces to create the path to our new future.

And, as many of you know, (who have followed the blog since the beginning), when searching real estate sites, I found the cottage. But, because it was in foreclosure Scott did not want to consider it. So we put offers on two other houses only to have problems that caused them not to go through. Then, Scott saw the beautiful Victorian I had shown him at the beginning of our search and fell in love with it. The rest is history.

And, as Josh found us… we found the Victorian cottage Josh dreamed of… And, the cottage that stood and waited patiently found us… Today we landed in Chicago and are driving to the cottage that Josh knew was waiting… our lovely Victorian cottage…

Updates to come tomorrow…
