Rain yesterday prevented any new roof from being installed. But our AirKrete insulation materials from The Climate Chief arrived. We are thrilled they are so environmentally friendly. Six men spent all day putting up the preliminary insulation shields for the AirKrete to be blown into. Soon we will have a cooler for the summer and during the winter a warmer attic.
Sewing room… Steve and Larry, our wonderful electricians from Modern Electric, have installed six cam lights in my sewing room! Outlets so I will be able to sew and have floor lights for hand stitching. After checking with Steve to see if we could install the reflective foil near the cam lights, we can now report that the heat transfer plates… reflective foil… and, R-30 insulation… are completely installed…
We wanted to show you the order of the layers of insulation in the ceiling so you understand what we are attempting to accomplish. (My precious Scott tells me that I put real pressure on him when I tell him I am writing it in the blog. “I’ve been blogged! That means I must accomplish it.” he declares.)
Now to cleaning to prepare the room for the scheduled arrival of our Koala Artisan Quiltmate Plus IV… With all the construction in the house, we are attempting to remove as much of the residual materials, dust, and grime as possible from the second floor and front stairway. It keeps magically reappearing within minutes of its removal. We maintain that if we keep removing all the grit and grime, it will eventually give up and move somewhere else.
We have a ShopVac, but it leaves something to be desired when it comes to thorough cleaning. So after much research we decided on the New Miele Complete C3 Calima Canister Vacuum in Canary Yellow. It has a Hepa AirCleanfilter, 36 foot operating radius, +/- foot switch speed control. But most importantly, it is gentle on our precious old floors and it weighs less than twenty pounds. It is supposed to arrive today. We will keep you updated on how well it works in our very dusty construction house…
