Today we want to update you on some of the goings on at Tranquility Cottage…
First… Our Wisteria is Blooming!
Second… Gloversville Sewing Center called us and told us that though our Bernina weighed a whopping thirty-five pounds, we did not need the Powerlift and special oversized acrylic cover… That the standard lift and opening cover that came with the table worked perfectly fine. They took those extra charges off our total cost… SAVINGS! The first savings we have seen since arriving at our new home.
Third… the roofing shingles and ply-board needed to reroof the house are stacked in our front yard, side yard and back yard…
They stand guard… waiting… wondering… wishing… to be on their way to proudly protecting their new home…
Fourth… Joe and Randy to the rescue again! Basement walls… removed… left over construction materials? removed… old unusable sinks? removed… Finally… space to repair!
Fifth… our wonderful new electrical panel installed by Steve and Larry from Modern Electric in Johnstown. We feel so safe with every wire, light, and outlet they have installed. There is no doubt they have been installed correctly.
Request… since we should have enough blueberries to feed us through next winter we are requesting each of you to share your favorite blueberry recipe. We are compiling a book devoted to just blueberry recipes in which we would love to include all of your recipes.
Doorbells… We have four ways to enter our cottage. One on the front porch… one on the side of the house… and two at the very back of the house… When someone arrives at our cottage, they have no way to let us know (1) they are here, or (2) which side of the house they are wishing to enter. So I proposed a door bell with four different rings so we know which door to answer.
Scott said, “Nooooooo! Four rings are too many to remember!”
Hoping to comfort him, I assured him he would learn which ring was which very quickly.
“Nooooooo!” was his immediate response.
I tried, “Think of it as an exercise to prevent Alzheimers”
“Nooooooo!” he repeated… shaking his head vehemently.
“I promise I will help you learn which door goes to which ring” I assured him.
Relaxing some, but definitely still dubious about the feasibility of four different rings he relented to at least consider the four ring method of knowing which door to remember… Now to find one that will still look somewhat Victorian…
