Cooling System… Climate Control… AC… Central Air… Air Conditioning! Whatever you want to call it… we have a two ton system installed for our third floor and it is operational as of today! Just in time! The temperature reaches the seventies today which means our third floor will reach well into the nineties! Yay for AC!
We officially started the process of having our roofing replaced. We have three or four layers of old roofing shingles that need to be removed and replaced. We are using Wiedermann & Sons from Mayfield to replace our roof. They did roofing repairs over the winter to protect our cottage until the weather grew warm enough so they could remove the old layers of shingles and replace them. We are using TruDefinition Duration Shingles made by Owens Corning.
Choosing a solid black onyx shingle to compliment our future paint colors for the outside of our cottage seemed most logical. We did not want the roof distracting from the colors of the house. So within the next several weeks we should have a solid new roof and our cottage will be one step closer to restoration.
Then, to further improve our cottage, we arranged for Mark Reed and his team from The Climate Chief to install airKrete GREENsulation. It is supposed to be completely non-toxic and non-allergenic, 100% fireproof, mold/bug/rodent resistant, and great for air sealing and soundproofing. As soon as Jeremiah has completed our new roof, Mark and his team will seal our attic. Another step closer to a comfortably warm cozy cottage.
Our arbor is in place for our wisteria trees to gnarl and twist and grow to their heart’s delight. Graceful green foliage will grow around the frame and if we are blessed they will produce a truly breathtaking display of long pendulous scented flowers known as racemes…
