Today is D Day. This day our brave men landed on the beaches of Normandy, France and liberated Western Europe from Nazi Germany’s control. So, today… please take a moment to remember… just remember…
Now… on to our progress…
People in… people out… appointments… workmen… and, my precious worker bee hubby… Though no rooms look physically different, progress is being made in the ceilings and walls.
My Scott diligently keeps installing reflective plates in each room… down one row of tubing and up the next… a tediously challenging job, but progressing nicely. But once the ceilings are in place, the house will be toasty warm on those frigid winter days coming this winter. His toils may not be observable… but will be felt and appreciated as Jack Frost arrives and the North Wind blows.
Vents! Vents needed for air conditioning for those few days of summer heat we may endure are being installed. All hidden within the walls… Just one room remains to have the floor heating installed… our primary kitchen… Then our heating and cooling will be completed…
Well, not totally… we do have three small heating systems that will be observable and create cozy nights… our fireplaces from Pine Lake Stoves… Three fireplaces out of four fireplace openings will enjoy blazing fires… the living room, dining room and, our bedroom. Because the sewing room has a fireplace we will not install a fireplace insert in that room. I am not a fan of active fireplaces where I am moving around a lot of material.
So though very little appears to be happening on the surface… a secure infrastructure for our cottage is coming to fruition…
Besides moving our bedroom from the third floor to the second floor, we plan to make the small room I had planned to use for the sewing room into our closet… leaving, the other larger bedroom for my sewing/craft room.
So the second floor will have our bathroom, bedroom, laundry room, sewing room, and two lively puppies that will be allowed to gallivant through all those rooms at will. Someday the whole cottage will be safe for them. Someday…
