Sometimes we become so focused on our overall projects we forget to scrutinize the finer details. This is what happened with our two kitchens… well to be accurate, primary kitchen and bakery. We love the Black Fantasy Leathered Granite we picked out for our primary kitchen countertop and the Bianco Parana Quartzite for our bakery countertop.
But when we were deciding on the tiles for the ceilings in the primary kitchen we inadvertently neglected to remember that, in that room, the only other focal point is our Rachiele copper sink. There is nothing silver in that room. So rather than accept something not ideally desirable, we preferred to research further and see if we could rectify our less than ideal choice.
American Tile sent us more samples… This time with copper tones. We settled on Artisan Copper with Brushed Bronze in a dramatic pattern salvaged from an early 1900s schoolhouse in Duluth, Minnesota that was destroyed by fire. A unique floral emblem with a large centerpiece surrounded by four diamonds filled with sunflowers.
Our bakery… we want more playful! After all, in the bakery we are making cupcakes, cakes, pies, and a variety of confectionaries. That is one of the rationals why we chose the Bianco Parana Quartzite for our counter tops. The ceiling tile… Artisan Silver Washed Pewter with mirrored oak leaf pattren
has a subtle, yet whimsical, design reminiscent of a butterfly. It’s a unique way to bring our love of nature indoors. We want our bakery to be light, airy and playful.
With these updated decisions we are rethinking our kitchen cabinet decisions also. We remain comfortable with our choice of cherry wood for the primary kitchen, but possibly subtle white-gray cabinetry for the bakery. Again, for the bakery, a lighter, casual, playful feel…
