Teeny Progress…

Well, we have a little headway to report! The tile for bakery backsplash arrived. It is more enchanting than we thought it would be (and we thought it would be quite enchanting). Because of the way the tile is created, we will be using black grout to accentuate its lines. This means a trip to Galleria this next week to order special black grout that doesn’t have sparkles in it. We want it clean and crisp.

Though it’s still going to be a while before I’m actually in the kitchen, it is growing closer. With that in mind we started sorting through my collection of spices. Having believed I would be in the kitchen in January I had started ordering spices for cooking. That actually makes me sad because for three months my spices have been sitting… waiting… and losing potency… Scott brought in box after box full of spices and other ingredients we had ordered. Here is my sink… full of spices that need sorting.

But, Scott went to the basement to bring up different size mason jars so we can see which ones will hold the different spices. No they are not amber which I know protects spices better, but they will be in the basement where it will not be very light. We want them to stay as cool as possible so that they will retain their flavor as long as possible. Big jars in the basement… little ones by our prep area.

And, storage shelves are now available to hold our food supply.

So today my thoughts have pertained to kitchen meanderings…
