The tile cutter has been removed from the first floor! All tiles needed for the mudroom and back hallway have been cut. The tile cutter now sits on the third floor, waiting to prepare the third floor bathroom tiles. (That is a long way down the road.)
Thinset has been slathered and tiles are in place. All that is left for the back hallway to be presentable is grouting the tiles and installing the baseboards. Then, when winter comes, the fancy work begins.
We had the most lovely rainy weekend. It was cool (50s) and delightful. Last week we actually dipped into the 40s again, but next weekend we’re due to be in the 90s. We are enjoying the cool weather as long as we can. Yes, we crossed summer solstice, but it takes forever for the days to start to shorten… For four days, sunrise and sunset moved just a few seconds so the calendar appeared to stand still.
This past weekend we had our first completelay cooked home meal. We had three-grain (quinoa, barley, and forbidden rice) salad, roasted kale, and baked tofu. It tasted wonderful. Then with some of the left over three-grain salad I made a sandwich spread. Mama used to make the most delicious ham spread for sandwiches. When I finished throwing my seasonings, nuts, and vegetables into my three green salad, put it on our delicious rye bread, and added a few lettuce leaves… it tasted just like Mama’s ham salad spread… YUMMY!
As soon as Scott finishes grouting the back hallway and mudroom I will start organizing and arranging the bakery… Headway, however slight, is being made…
