Our closet is officially sealed from the outside and ready for insulation and cedar walls!
But, Scott MUST finish our bedroom first! That is what we thought… then? Another bombshell fell on our bliss…
And, of course more duplicated expense… Thank you, Patrick! Repairing more of your improper work! Please, everyone… remember… do NOT use Efficient Heating and Cooling or Patrick St.Pierre… you will have to do it all over again!
ALL the tubing in ALL the ceilings must be replaced. That means that the ceiling in the laundry room… the ceiling in the second floor bedroom… the ceiling in our future closet… and the ceiling in our sewing room (home of our bat nest) needs to come down!
Originally, Bert and his sons were coming today… a whole weekend’s notice to take down four ceilings! And… move all our moving boxes out of the living room into our bakery and dining room. Adding to our challenges… I was extremely concerned about Scott taking down the ceiling in our sewing room with the possibility of all the bat guano falling on him and all over the room…
Within minutes, I was on the phone with Thomas Pest Control. Explaining our situation, they transferred me to their manager of bats. He said “they” should take the ceiling down because bat guano is highly toxic. More expense… Scott and I discussed it. There really were no other options. So… Tuesday and Wednesday they will seal the bat holes with one way doors… Thursday, they will seal the sewing room from the rest of the house and remove the sewing room ceiling. The pups and I will move to the one last safe bastion… our primary kitchen!
Bert and his sons will arrive the week of August 20th and replace all the remaining heating coils Patrick installed (as a reminder they all rusted because they were not intended to be used for radiant heating). Then, they install the last thermostat and toe kick heater in the primary kitchen, and finish installing the third floor AC that Patrick supposedly installed (again, his inadequate work). When Patrick installed the AC he neglected to install any filters… and, installed the ducts improperly…
So though the next two weeks are not outward signs of steps forward, the foundation of our home will be functioning properly…
