Now that insulation, drywall, and floors are in place,.. decorative decision time!
Yes, we need to strip layers of paint from the fireplace and bedroom door…
Crown molding, and baseboards must be installed…
but, serious decorative colors need consideration.
Colors… we wanted to go with warm relaxing tones.
Many of you know my fondness for pinks. But, pink is perky… not the best choice for a bedroom. My other favorite color is blue… not any blue mind you, but Wedgewood blue. What if we combine the two colors? Purple… Purple combines the calming stability of blue with the energy of red. (Love red! Pink is just red mixed with white…) Purple inspires creativity, peace, mystery, and magic. (Magical everything? I love… except, magicians…) Yes! It must be purple! Fortunately, for me, my sweet hubby is in touch with his feminine side.
For me, no other paint company exists besides BEHR paints. Their colors are clean and paint melts on.
Now, what shade… Behr has seventy-one (71) shades of purple. Sigh…
Lavender Wash, Dancing Mist, Himalayan Poppy, Petal Tip, Plum Shadow, Soft Amethyst, Soft Orchid, the list goes on…
We decide on ‘Vintage Ribbon’ for the accent color. (Yes, we want an accent color for our bedroom recess.)
For the bulk of the room, we decide on ‘Naturally Calm’. Room painted. We stand. We walk. We sit. The room is too blah. We need more intimacy…
So Scott paints Vintage Ribbon over Naturally Calm while I search for an intimate paint color. (Don’t laugh… well, do laugh… laughter is healthy for everyone.)
We want our recess to exude warmth… sexiness… and intimacy…
After much back and forth, we decide on Divine Wine. Just the back wall and ceiling are to be Divine Wine. But, the more we stand and feel the whole room’s energy, we realize the side walls, out to the columns, need to be divinely… Divine Wine, also.
Painting accomplished! We hope…
