We learned that this part of the country (Upstate New York) has not four seasons each year, but five. In this area we have Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter, and Mud… At this time, as we are leaving winter behind (I seem to be the only one in mourning) Mud Season is moving in with considerable speed. As much as I do not want to admit it, our snow is melting. We have acquired patches of mud where our snow has disappeared. Our tree stumps are visible again. Sigh… I am attempting to embrace Spring and all its glorious offerings… but winter is so snuggly! I shall just cling to knowing winter will return in about ten months.
A side note… our littlest puppy, Emmi, sleeps with me. She was very attached to her birth mother. When all the other pups went off on adventures, Emmi stuck to MOM. So when we adopted her, it was quite traumatic for this adorable pup. On the ride home (about an hour) I snuggled her close and kept assuring her she would be loved. After about thirty minutes she stopped crying. But, she had attached to me. When we let her join Happy on the bed, nowhere would work accept Mom’s arms. Soon, I found myself with a face full of fur sleeping peacefully. Now when the day ends and we turn in, Emmi waits for me to finish reading. As I turn back to sleep she bounds into the crook of my arm, releases a huge sigh, and falls asleep instantly…
