Bump in the Night Update…

Update on our bat situation…

Thomas Pest Services will be out to our cottage August 14 and 15 to alleviate our bat and woodchuck issue. We are thrilled this company offers help to those of us in Gloversville. They are coming over from Colonie, a suburb of Albany. When they arrived for the inspection, you could tell they knew exactly where to look. Within a few minutes Steve (their bat expert) spotted the most likely point of entry. (Right over our sewing room) Now that we know where they are residing, we can hear their scrunching around in the ceiling. Slightly disconcerting, but… our LIGHTS are ON!

Side note: Love the Thomas Pest Services vans!

Scott keeps plugging along in our future bedroom, hoping to finish so we can move in it before our first snow. For a man who’s never hung Sheetrock, or finished a room, he’s doing a beautiful job. I love how he finished over our fireplace. He is changing a teeny closet by the fireplace into a beautiful niche for some of our treasures.

We have one beam in the basement and on the first floor under the inside wall of our bedroom that needs reinforcing before he can Sheetrock that one final wall in our bedroom.

If he installed the Sheetrock before raising the floor, it could cause the Sheetrock to shatter… So, one wall waits patiently for its finishing touches. With his determination, I believe Scott will beat that first snowfall…
