Next Stage…

The next several weeks, Scott spent insulating, installing reflective panels, and drywall. We were held-up for a while… waiting on Glenn, our plumber, to install the piping for our future third floor bathroom. Again, please remember, my husband has never worked on a construction site, nor remodeled a home, before we moved here. Though John, our kitchen whisperer, had said he and his team wanted to install the ceiling in our bedroom, Scott is an independent person. He did not want to bother them. So he took the 4×8 panels, cut them in two foot by four foot sections and installed the ceiling panels alone. Sigh…

Okay, ceiling and wall drywall panels are installed… though no taping or compound has taken place. It is time to finish the floor. We love Adirondack Wood Floor Co. They held our pine flooring for over a year while we struggled to meet the challenges of our bedroom. Once they deliver the flooring, we waited two weeks for it to acclimate to the temperatures of our cottage. Then, Adirondack Wood Floor Co.’s lovely young men came. They laid new flooring over the exposed area that had been where the closet, sink and drawers existed. and refinished the rest of the room.

Because of the woods’ different ages, the flooring is two toned. Yes, we love the floor’s color differences. Those different tones memorialize the altered configuration of the room… Providing a tribute to what existed before we arrived blended with the future of our cottage…

Two-tone floor…

P.S. We know that most of you are very concerned that we are warm enough. The Polar Votex has hit. Our actual temperature is -9; wind chill factor temperature is -24.

The temperature in our room is still safe. As I write, we are in the upper 60s. Scott has turned on both downstair’s fireplaces to alleviate some of the cold from seeping in. We are expected to warm to 10 today… cottage should warm up nicely…

We have hot soup to keep our tummies warm…
