Recap…

We were waiting until the completion of our master bedroom for a ‘Big Reveal’. Instead, expect regular updates on the day-to-day minutiae.

First, let’s backtrack to the beginning when we first bought our cottage… the master bedroom floor-plan and how the configuration of that floor-plan has changed.

Such a lovely room…

The original master bedroom had a section of the room portioned off for built-in drawers, a sink for washing, plus a small closet. Since we wanted to put a king-size bed in the bedroom without being crowded, we tore the drawers, sink, and closet out. Removing those items and the wall supporting them meant tearing out a support wall.

New support beams…

To keep the structural integrity of our cottage sound, we installed a support beam…

‘No insulation’ exists in any walls or ceilings. YIKES! Ceiling and walls stripped to the studs… The existing window frames fall victim to the wall demolition. The original nails to install the frames are heavy duty. Removing walls without destroying window frames? Impossible…

Ending up with only the structural bones of our master bedroom, we start from scratch…

P.S. Yes, as I write, Winter Storm Jayden is snowing… We are warm…
