We Have a Basement…

Oh my! Our cottage is healing!

All right. It’s been a while since we’ve blogged. It’s been an interesting few weeks. Because of my vision, holding the iPad or MacAir too much strained my neck and shoulder. We have been spending this time allowing my neck and shoulder to heal.

The month of September has been the warmest and the driest since we arrived in New York. We are grateful. We have a finished basement. It has been an interesting few weeks seeing the walls come down and dirt dug up. Then seeing dirt hauled away and walls going back up. Yesterday they poured the floor to the basement. I can’t tell you how wonderful it is to walk into a basement and see one that is actually functional.

Glenn, our wonderful plumber, working on the house. But basically while they were working on the basement everyone else had to stop and wait. So until we had a basement we haven’t made a lot of other headway. Now that the floor is in, things can start to move again.

Next week Glenn will be returning. Hopefully Bert, our heating and air-conditioning man, will be here too. He was here while Larry was here because we needed to get the circulation tank for the heating system off the basement floor so they could pour the floor. It seems everywhere we turn we find more screw ups that Patrick left us.

But, we have found some more treasures. We found a cute Christmas sleigh and three Christmas loaf dishes.

We also found a ceramic pie plate and an antique soup tureen.

So that is our for update for today…

P.S. Happy Birthday, Bob!
