Yesterday we had a minor miracle; not that we think any miracle is minor.
We let all of you know that our Happy has not sat up or walked for the last several months. For the last several days she/he has been attempting to sit-up. We have been bracing her/him up and she/he has enjoyed it.
Yesterday she/he was particularly wiggly. I suggested Scott make a comfortable pad on the floor so she/he could wiggle safely. (Happy has been in Scott’s lap almost continuously since she/he lost her/his ability to move)
When it came time for their lunch, Happy wiggled into a sitting position. After eating, Scott took their can of food down to the refrigerator and washed their puppy bowls. Happy had an urgency. She/he started to whimper. And, before I knew it she/he had wiggled into a standing position. Our sweet fourteen year old Chinese Crested Powder Puff worked those legs and hobbled over to her/his puppy pads to do her/his business. (For those wondering… my job is to contain Emmi so she does not accidentally tip Happy over in her enthusiasm to play with her)
Then, she/he stood there… amazed… not sure what to do next. By this time Scott had returned. He picked Happy up and stood her/him on the blanket. She/he stood for a while, sat, then laid back down… obviously, worn out from her great adventure.
Will she/he hobble again? She/he is definitely sitting up on her/his own frequently. In the meantime? We are so grateful…
